Definition: Aggregate is a collection of items that are gathered together to form a total quantity.

The fleeting moments of knowledge in which we discover our existence are facts that can be committed to memory. We can enlarge this aggregate memory and refashion it as we go through a lifetime. By saving these memories on paper and reconstructing the images of our lives. We see the art of our lives unfolding before us.

Mixed Media Place: How would you express sadness? Challenge.

Hello Lovelies-

Today I am participating in MMP Challenge, How would you express sadness? There is more information about this challenge below.

For me sadness is the secrets that we keep to ourselves. I think that when we bottle up our feelings of any sort, it gets in the way of progress.

Once I let out my insecurities and confront them head on.... They are never as bad as they were in my mind. They are distorted images in my minds eye. This journal page is about those untruths that sometimes I say to myself that is not 100% accurate and I do consider them lies. As you notice that the jounaling spot is covered in black representing the wicked things I can sometimes tell myself.

Why do I do that to myself? It is not nice and I would never make someone feel like that. So I came up with a saying regarding this behavior. "If you can't play nice then you can't play in my sandbox." I think that about says it all.  Don't you?

Here is what Mixed Media Place is saying about this challenge.

What are you feeling? {vol. 3}

This time we would like to present a feeling that might perhaps be a little difficult for some of you.
But as we all know, life is not just about pretty roses and smiles but it's filled with all sorts of emotions.
That's why we'd like you to find inspiration in ... Sadness.

  1. You can feel the sadness when you look at this...but it isn't depressing, just sad. And then there is the light areas - and light is hope. A stunning piece!

  2. AMAZING artwork Sarinda, you tackled a some what difficult topic really well. Art can be a great release for emotions. Your sentiment is spot on too, a great reminder for us all. Art has saved me from going crazy over the last five years. I would be lost without it I'm sure.

    Wishing you a beautiful day, sweet lady. Hugs, Gez xx

  3. As artists, and, in particular, art journalists, we are quick to create happy and/or funny pieces. We don't often journal about sad and bad times in our lives. But, we actually should! As you mentioned, keeping things bottled up inside impedes progress! Your work her is sensitive, honest and releasing to you, I am sure. I promise to try it, too.
