I have a fun challenge for you today.
**Warning**
This post is delving a bit deeper.
The challenge is from Mixed Media Place. I have to say their Design Team is thoughtful about the challenges that they put out to us and what a perfect time of reflection in our own lives.
Deciding to play with my Encaustics for this challenge. I love this medium and find myself never having enough time to do so. I am giving myself permission to do so RIGHT now. :)
I often take images of my surrounding that inspire me so that I may recall that emotion when I go back to use it. This image that I am using is of the Bonneville Salt Flats, that is very close to my home in Salt Lake City, Utah. There is something very raw and harsh about this desert environment. Yet- Also something very still and peaceful to me.
The only explanation of the feeling that I can give about this work is; a calm before as ferocious storm. Very peaceful, Seeing everything in all the details with a bit of high alert anxiousness around the edges. And peaceful I need to add again.
I guess this is the closest that I can get to beach, being landlocked. Here is the image that I took on the last trip to this stunning place and what I am basing this work on.
Text: "Remember the feeling of the daydream state of creation."
I am giving myself permission to let go.

Here is what Mixed Media Place Design Team is asking us?
What are you feeling? / Co czujesz?
How would you express Calm?
Wonderful spread, Sarinda. I wouldn't know where to start with a prompt like 'Calm'.

ReplyDeleteMagnificent. Truly.
ReplyDeleteThis is quite a "prompt," Sarinda, but your certainly rose to the occasion. Your work is often soulful and thoughtful, but this piece is both. I lost myself in this piece for about 15 minutes. I had a wonderful time in your calm. Mwah!
