Hi there and Happy 4th of July to you.
Anna Dabrowska is an artist that I can not get enough of her work.
Maybe it is because it is so different from mine. Whatever the reason, her mixed media work gets me excited, so every chance I can get I like to take in her art. Anna is a Prima Girl and recently did a live workshop with Prima Live. This is a place where you can see the Prima artists work live to see how they put things together and ask questions. It is a great way to learn.
As an art school grad.... I have always been told to emulate an artist that you like, it is a huge help to understand techniques and gather knowledge for your own personal tool box. Then your own personal style and effects come through you have more skills to choose from.
We all have a personal artistic voice that can not be duplicated. With any class that I teach I encourage students to "copy" my work in order to understand the techniques involved. Every time the art has the makers voice attached to the work. Sorry for the rant.... I believe the process of art is all about discovery and also sharing techniques and styles. Yet- as an artist we all have to find the courage to find our own unique style, without always copying others work.
With that being said, I worked along with Anna's video and played right along with her step by step to see how she does what she does. (so much FUN)
The result is above. Here is a link to Anna's original Tags.
