Definition: Aggregate is a collection of items that are gathered together to form a total quantity.

The fleeting moments of knowledge in which we discover our existence are facts that can be committed to memory. We can enlarge this aggregate memory and refashion it as we go through a lifetime. By saving these memories on paper and reconstructing the images of our lives. We see the art of our lives unfolding before us.

Face the brilliance of your most wonderful creations and dwell on your dreams.
I believe in teaching, the sharing of ideas and playfulness of creating.

Dylusions Spray Inks and Artistcellar.com

Hello Lovelies....

As much as I love mixed media I also love to create scrapbook pages. This is a fun non-threatening, playing with color, treat for me.

Here is a quick tutorial on how to use spray inks and your Artistcellar stencils in a fun way.

Here is what you will need:
Step 1:
Get some color on that white card stock..... I sprayed through the stencil and then flipped it over to get a reversed image. I love how the two colors blend in the center. Do the same with the tag.

 Step 2:
I love the all in one bundles that you can buy at stores. They have everything that you could want in one shot. This is where I start to stage out the image and the items from the bundle that I know I want to use.
Step 3:
Add more to the spaces. I like using 3's in my work, whatever I create will have a variation of three. I like doing this so that my eye will move around the page and look at every detail. I do not start to adhere the bits until I am sure where they will permanently live on the page.

You can see in the above image that I outlined a rectangle for the journaling spot. It is good to see this as you are laying out the bits.

Step 4:
Enjoy your family photos with a whole lot of color.

Thank you for stopping by to see our creations.
Be well-
Sarinda

Carved Stamp Using Artistcellar Stencils

Hello There,
It is Sarinda here again.... I guess I am Hump Day Girl. LOL. Brought to you here every Wednesday. Hope you are gearing up for a great Fall weekend.
I don't know about you? But I always find myself thinking that I would like... No- LOVE to have a stamp like an Artistcellar stencil. I don't think that I am the only one in this. So-this would be a perfect time to show you how to carve a stamp with a Speedball Lino Cutter and a Speedy-Carve 3x4" block.
Here is what you will need:
Exacto Blade
Paper
Tag
Spray Inks (I used Dylusions and Tim Holtz Distress Stains)
Take your stencil of choice (I am using one from the (Old World Map Series) and a Pitt pen in size "S" outline onto the Speedy-Carve block.

Then you will take the smallest "V" shaped carving tool and put it into the handle. You do this by loosening the metal grip and then slide it in and tighten. I take the Exacto Blade and run it about 3mm deep along the lines. This helps to stop cutting with the Speedball carving tool. (You will see what I mean) Using the smallest "V" shape tool go around the edges that you would like to remove.
Tip: I put an "X" on the pieces that I am wanting to take away. I just don't trust myself. It has happened too many times and quite embarrassing to even speak about the number.
Helpful Hink: Please be so very careful when using sharp tools. Go slow.
Then I will step up to the larger "V" shaped tool and finish carving out the inside of the outlines. Now remember it does not have to be perfect... Leave that for another job. This is made by your hands and this will give your stamp a uniqueness all of your own.
This is how my stamp looked after I carved it.
Now it is time to see how I really did. Ink your stamp with black ink and stamp it onto a white sheet of paper. This will tell me if I have any high spots that I might need to go back and carve out. However- I really like the look of some fine lines. It gives your stamp a sketchy look.

So here is a detail of what I am speaking of. This is all personal perspective. You may want to carve more or not.

Here is the stamped image.

It is so gratifying to create your own stamps. I will use this on journal pages, backgrounds, cards, tags, fabric.... well you get the idea. SO on and SO on. :D

You can also carve the backside if you wish... Just don't go too deep. Also- do your own designs, a doodle, a flower. Whatever- just play.
I hope you will find carving fun.
Warmly-
Sarinda

Kilnformed Glass with Artistcellar Stencils

Hello Creatives-

I am Sarinda Jones and I am a full time kiln formed glass artist with a passion for all things paper. I am thrilled to be participating in this amazing Design Team and Artistcellar. I hope you will be inspired to create something that I bring to you. For me it is all about playful creating. Although you will see me use a lot of different mediums. I thought today I would share a tutorial using Artistcellar Playful Pods stencils and kiln formed glass platter. Just in case any of you wanted to know more about how the glass process works.

Here is the Playful Pods Stencils.... "By the way... MY Fav Chris Cozen"

You will cut two 8"x8" clear glass sheets.

Placing the stencil onto the cleaned glass you will see that there is some space around the edges. Taking paper to cover up the entire edges of exposed glass.
Tip:You can also use Ducktape on the edges of the stencils to help with this issue.

Here I am creating the top layer glass detail with Bullseye Powdered Black Glass. Using a sifter to apply the power glass to the stencil.
IMPORTANT: You Must Must wear a respirator while using any powder glass or small particulates. As you do not what that to settle into your lungs. It does not come out.

Lightly tap sifter to disperse the power glass onto the stencil.

Just for fun this is how I look working with this stuff. Not the funnest thing while in the summer months. lol.
I digress, Back to the tutorial-!

VERY carefully remove the stencil and tap powder back into the jar.

Now I am creating the bottom layer for the kiln formed glass platter. Using 4 colors of coarse frit glass, Aqua, Amber, Rhubarb and Red. What "frit" means is the glass has been broken into small chucks and sifted into different particulate sizes, from powder, fine, medium and coarse. It is to use as accessory glass and will create some interesting bubbles and textures within the finished glass platter.

Working on top of the kiln shelf and thin fire paper, you will mark the corners of the 8"x8" clear glass blank. Then add the coarse glass frit inside the outlined square.

Add one cleaned clear glass blank onto the glass frit.

Next you will add the clear glass with black glass powder detail on top of the other. Careful not to disturb the powder glass.

This is how it will look all stacked together.

Now- the stack goes into the kiln and fires up to 1500 degrees for 14 hours. This will fuse all the layers together and become one thick sheet of glass.
This is how the sheet looks after the firing.

Detail of the glass sheet.

The last step is to put it back into the kiln on a ceramic mold for another firing to slump the glass slab into a plate shape. Yes- another 14 hours. This is always done as a second firing as you can not full fuse and slump at the same time. They are different firing schedules and temperatures.
Here is the finished piece.

I hope you have enjoyed looking into the world of glass with me.
Again- I look forward to working with Artistcellar and the Design Team. I have enjoyed being inspired by the last DT and find this an amazing opportunity.
Have a creative day.
Warmly-
Sarinda

New 2013-2014 Journal

Hello Crafties-

I am finishing up my Mini Journal that I started last year and only have a few pages left. So no better time than the present to start up a new one. Plus I will be going back to Pilchuck Glass School for a few weeks and will need to more space to place my ideas on. This new journal measures 5.5"wide x 8" tall. I like working in smaller books so that I can take them anywhere. And for some reason when you are working smaller people are less likely to look over your shoulder. lol. I am kind of shy.

Here is what I did for the cover:

1- I layered two coats of gesso waited until dry and used the Playful Pods Stencils from Artistcellar and added some background texture with gesso and a stencil. Then I used another stencil and molding paste to add another layer of texture. THIRD time is the charm?! So I took a Crafter's workshop stencil Microbial and used gel medium with the glass beads. I love the way the light picks up the glass beads and creates that bit of shimmer to the matte look of paint. And it suits my purpose pretty well. Don't you think?

2- I added color with Distress stains, Silks Paints (colors I used: Honey Amber & Key Lime) and Viva Decor's Inka Gold in Old Silver just to add some pop to the gesso'd stenciled bits.

3- Then doodled a page liner on chipboard and some small doodles to get it all going.

Enjoy-
